Gatsbys obsession is to try to get closer to daisy. I think gatsby did succeeded on something. In the story it said that before all the money. Gatsby was a janitor and a person invited him to his yacht. He asked gatsby if he wanted to be wealthy. All the money that he achieved was all used to make was used as a way to get closer to daisy. What gatsby symbolises is how people will try to do anything to get closer to girl. I think that the plot of the story is trying to tell us example what people do and to learn from their actions.
